Blistering day today, I actually won the toss (yeah you heard it right, i won one) and we had a bat.
Ben and bailey started proceedings with a steady run rate, bailey flashing hard at everything the opening bowlers served up and got a few boundaries here and there. Ben looked good with a few strokes to the boundary keeping his score ticking along. First to fall was ben on 20, caught at 3rd slip (i think) it was a very good catch, flying fast. Hedgey came to the crease and didnt fare well against there opener, feeding him a dolly 3 balls after coming in. Gav next up to face the firing squad, faced an abundance of dot balls before being bowled by a bouncer that didnt get up quite as high as he expected.
Next in to steady the ship was newby, good shots were played all round from him to keep accumulating. Rob bailey managed to get caught out for 15 to bring dan collo to the crease. collo and newby continued to score freely for a few overs, keeping the score ticking. When dan got caught at cover (21)I came into bat with newby. Both of us struggled against there bowling but kept the board ticking, very slowly, but ticking. Newby got caught in the deep trying to hit out (27) which brought spittlehouse to the fray. Chris played .... aggresively for his (9) before being caught out, rob turner breifly came in before having woodwork rearrangement (0). Phil Z came in and although starting shakey started to batter the ball around effectively. I got caught at point after hitting a few boundaries (32) which brought jack in as the last man to see what we could accumulate. Phil hit 3 valuable boundaries to increase our total before breaking out a few moves and dancing down the track, only to be stumped (21). End of innings 159ao.
Onto the bowling :(
I opened up with phil Z, I bowled ok from one keeping the score down, phil was being targeted by their opening batsmen and went for 26 off his 4. Dan collo bowled well with his spin picking up 1 wicket caught and bowled (1 for 58).
I picked up a wicket with a rank long hop outside off ( dan collo the safe hands ).
Spittlehouse bowled very well at the death, hedgey didnt bowl so well at the death but did get a direct hit run out to remove their number 4 who didnt look pleased to say the least, no 2's there dave.
And amongst all this bowling clumbers opener managed to rack up the allocated runs with no difficulty in not much time at all. Apart from a breif moment when one of their batsmen managed to conk himself with a top edge everything ran smoothly for them.
6 dropped catches was the difference today lads, including ben carrs skyer ( catching with your mouth open is funny to watch, look a bit like a clown though )
Man of the Match: Me (you can change it if you think of anyone more appropriate dave, not yourself)
Capt Calamity: Dave Hedge (even though he got a direct hit run out, 3rd ball duck and 2 overs for 25 (3 lost balls) wasnt what was needed.
Onto next week lads.
