Match Report

What to say,not too sure, but looking at the league tables we are in a real mess. We have three games left ,two against top three teams and to survive we need to show more application and effort than we showed last Sunday. Batting first we scored 173 for 9 off 40overs. Dave Hedge top scored with 50,Andy Laughton with 23 and 14 year old Ben Carr scoring 20 batting at No.3 on his debut.Taking nothing away from Hedgies 50 hampered by a pulled muscle in his back, I feel we were 30 runs short of a defendable total. What happened next was to say the least very poor from a fielding and a bowling aspect.19 overs shared by Andy Beecroft and Arun Aiyer went for only 54 runs which means 13 overs went for 114 plus 6extras from our other 5 bowlers. I think enough was said after the game to prevent a repeat performance against table topping Long Eaton on Sunday. Andy Beecroft takes M.O.T.M. for his 10 overs 2 for 29, with Dave and Arun close behind. There was nothing amusing about the game so C.C. must go again to Arun for going out to bat without his gloves two weeks ago.I missed this with being away but feel this is worth a double award. This and James Kirkham not knowing for a third of the season he was batting with left handed gloves maybe explains our position in the league.
