Match Report

We've just lost that early season momentum we were carrying after 2 defeats in the last 2 games. Whats cost us is once again batting. This time we were skittled for 73 with only Steve Collo putting up any resistance with a good 32.

What I will say is that the fielding performance was exceptional and i really cannot fault the effort given. Even with only 73 on the board we got Bingham 6 down and with 25-30 more runs i think we'd have snuck it. Great to have the likes of Harry Napier, James Pritchett and Kyle Barker back in the side giving us a more youthful look which showed in the field. Brilliant bowling once again from Steve Collo and Paul Orgill giving us a real fighting chance but in the end just not enough runs.

We've got to learn to give ourselves a platform for these young lads to bowl at. I would have loved nothing more than to chuck the ball a lot earlier to Harry Napier and given James Pritchett, Joe Orgill & Liam Aldred a bowl. I understand the frustration of these lads, which was evident at the end but also pleasing because I want these young lads to be hungry and want to be in the game. With only 73 on the board though the match situation meant i had to go tried and tested from the word go, something i only want to have to do if i was desperately seeking a wicket or the match wasnt going in our favour, not right from the outset.

No game next weekend, so time to re-group, get in the nets and come back stronger for the game on July 5th down at Collingham, which is a much win game if we want to keep our charge for promotion up. Still sitting 4th currently which is a great position to find ourselves in after 7 matches.
